Kevin Bacon's clothes took an extended journey to get to Ireland from the US

FedEx has apologised to Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon after confirming that a box of his clothes has finally been delivered following an unexpected journey from the US to Ireland.

The Footloose star, who is currently filming in Ireland, appealed for help on Instagram after a parcel containing clothes he has owned since the 1990s failed to arrive.

Responding directly to his video, FedEx wrote: "We got this wrong, and we're sorry. Your package has now been delivered, but we know the experience wasn’t what it should have been.

"We're addressing what went wrong to help ensure we deliver the level of service our customers deserve."

Bacon explained that he had shipped the box from upstate New York on 26 September so he could travel light, joking that he had used a delivery company whose name "rhymes with Bread X".

However, the package took a lengthy detour, travelling through Memphis, France and Germany before being sent to Israel several times.

It eventually reached Ireland on 11 October, but remained undelivered when Bacon shared his appeal five days later.

"I don’t understand why; it’s just sitting there. I can’t get a person on the phone. I have not been able to talk to anybody," he said.

The actor explained that the box contained old boots, jeans and hats that held sentimental value.

"I know what you’re thinking: just go buy some more clothes, and you’re right, I could buy some clothes, but I want these clothes. I’ve had them since the nineties."

He ended his appeal by asking: "Am I ever going to see this stuff? It’s starting to get cold here."

Bacon is in Ireland filming Summoner, a new horror movie written and directed by Jeremy Slater.

The film, which also stars Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress Stephanie Beatriz and The Gentlemen actor Daniel Ings, follows Bacon’s character Jefferson Haddock as he confronts a terrifying demon at an isolated witness protection property.

A release date has yet to be announced.
